Something has been on my mind lately about artificial intelligence and its practicality. There’s this growing assumption—especially among those who hold the capital—that if we just replace human labor with automation, things will get better. Efficiency will go up. Output will improve. But I keep circling back to a more fundamental question:
Loving the inner child
May 28, 2024
As a child, the world sparkled with novelty and wonder, every experience fresh and exhilarating. But as I’ve grown older, that sheen has dulled. The open-mindedness and flexibility of youth have slowly given way to a more closed and rigid outlook. While I’m not incapable of enjoyment or fun, I’ve noticed a tendency in myself to not actively seek out the brighter side of life, a habit formed over years that now seems daunting to overturn.
Embracing Atomic Habits
Opportunities or Flopportunities?

Time marches on, ceaselessly and relentlessly. It’s a peculiar thing, really—how weeks can disappear in the blink of an eye. My last post was a reflection on maintaining balance amidst success, but despite my best intentions, I found myself slipping. It’s a humbling reminder of how easy it is to let things fall by the wayside.
If you think it gets easier, think again. But success is success.

Some weeks feel like a whirlwind of success and family joy, and this was one of them. I not only cherished valuable time with my family but also advanced to the second round of an important job interview. However, these highs are often interspersed with moments of exhaustion and wavering motivation, highlighting the complex dance between energy, rest, and commitment.

Week in Review: Ups and Downs
April 19, 2024
This past week was a reset, an opportunity to reassess and re-prioritize amid my ongoing job search. It’s been a less productive week on the professional front, with applications sent to only four positions. However, this choice stems from a deliberate decision to put family first, spending valuable time with my daughter at the library and the Shedd Aquarium. These moments are crucial, not just for her development but for reinforcing our bond.
As dark as Obsidian and hiding in the rough
April 16, 2024
Recently, I stumbled upon a fascinating video that introduced me to the concept of a “second brain” — an intriguing method for organizing one’s thoughts and ideas through digital tools. While I was familiar with apps like Evernote and Google Keep, this video highlighted others like Notion and Obsidian, which piqued my interest, particularly with their advanced organizational capabilities.

Week in Review: Lessons
April 12, 2024
This week, my job application efforts were modest, reaching out to just six organizations. As I delve deeper into the job market, one pressing issue stands out: the high specialization of roles. It seems that each position demands a unique set of skills and experiences, which aren’t necessarily transferable to other roles.
Crafting Dreams and Bonds: Our Video Game Creation Adventure
April 10, 2024
My son’s fascination with video games, from his current fixation on “Toilet Tower Defense” to his preference for “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” has sparked a remarkable journey for us. Together, we’re embarking on an epic adventure, one filled with battles, treasures, and glory - the adventure of creating our own video game.
Beyond the Dojo: Lessons in Life's Imperfect Mastery.

Focusing solely on oneself can be a profound misstep. Observing my son, I’m captivated by the boundless opportunities that flutter around him, like leaves in a gentle breeze, waiting to be grasped. Yet, sometimes these chances seem to slip through his fingers, unnoticed. His world revolves around games like “Toilet Tower Defense” and other whimsical digital realms that capture his imagination.

In my early twenties, I stumbled upon ChessMaster 6000 – a beacon that illuminated my path into the intriguing world of chess. This love affair with chess was rekindled not on the board but through code. As I embarked on building a blackjack simulation in Python, memories of chess strategies and challenging online opponents across the globe resurfaced. However, a humbling defeat at the hands of a 12-year-old at a boyscout campout reminded me that my chess days were behind me. Or so I thought.
Dropped off the End of the Earth: My Journey from Layoff to Self-Discovery
April 7, 2024
On March 9, 2024, being laid off from my job felt like I was dropped off the edge of the world. Suddenly, I found myself floating in a sea of uncertainty, whirled into deep introspection.
